Megamentin (Augmentin) is a pharmacological drug from the group of antibacterial strains with a wide range of effects on the body. Augmentin affects both gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria.
pharmachologic effect
Augmentin in use stimulates the destruction of aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms. These include strains that produce an enzyme that destroys penicillin, beta-lactamase. This effect of the drug is due to its constituent clavulonic acid, which in turn ensures the stability of the active active substance of the drug – amoxicillin to beta-lactamase, and expands the scope of the antibiotic.
Form of issue
Augmentin comes in a tablet form, in the form of a powder for the preparation of an injection solution, and in the form of a dry substance for the preparation of drops. In the pharmacy you can also buy a suspension of Augmentin or syrup.
Methods of application
The appointment of Augmentin should always be preceded by a complete examination of the patient’s body for the presence of a sensitivity level of the microflora, which was caused by the disease, to this antibiotic. This drug can be given to a child under the age of twelve months in the form of drops in dosages: up to three months – at 0.75 milliliters, up to twelve months – at 1.25 milliliters. The cycle of treatment in childhood should not last more than two weeks in a row, a serious study and consideration of the clinical situation.
Syrup or suspension Augmentin is prescribed to children between the ages of one and twelve years. Suspension is prescribed in such dosages: from one to two years – 2.5 milliliters three times a day, from two to seven years – five milliliters, from seven to twelve years – ten milliliters. In case of severe cycle of the disease in a child, these dosages can be doubled according to the doctor’s recommendation.
Indications
Augmentin prescribed for the treatment of infectious diseases of bacterial nature, which are caused by microorganisms susceptible to this antibiotic. This diseases include:
